GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Executives with DK Security announced Tuesday, May 28 they have been awarded a 3-year, $1.5 million contract to provide unarmed security guard services at Gerald R. Ford International Airport.

The contract, which requires DK to provide personnel at the terminal curb and vehicular gates for total of 800 hours a week, will allow the firm to hire an additional 20 employees, according to a press release by the firm.

“We are honored to have this opportunity to represent Kent County and our hometown airport, and even more pleased that a Kent County-based company is now providing these services,” said DK Security Executive Vice President Kathryn Kendall.

“We look forward to providing hospitality-oriented security services and helping to make the patrons’ experience at the airport friendly and positive.”

DK Security also provides security at Lansing’s Capital Region International Airport and at U.S. Air National Guard bases in Michigan, Kendall said.

Founded in 1994 by retired U.S. Marshal John Kendall and retired FBI Agent Robert DuHadway, DK Security has grown from $5 million in annual revenue in 2005 to more than $15 million in expected revenue in 2013.

With more than 1,100 employees, DK Security also provides security at the DeVos Place Convention Center, Van Andel Arena and other events and festivals throughout West Michigan.
