Live Scan Fingerprinting Services from DK Security
Fingerprinting is the process of capturing your fingerprints and submitting them through Michigan and federal background screening systems, including the FBI’s Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS). Your fingerprints are then compared against national criminal history databases.
While some providers still use traditional ink-and-roll cards, DK Security offers Live Scan fingerprinting, which provides more accurate results, faster processing, and secure electronic submission through Michigan and FBI-approved systems.
DK Security’s fingerprinting services are intended for Michigan employment, professional licensing, certification, registration, and agency-required background checks. When required by the requesting agency or employer, fingerprints collected at our DK Security corporate offices are submitted to both the State of Michigan and FBI for further review. We do not provide fingerprinting services for general personal use, federal immigration or visa applications, or other non-eligible reason codes.

Guidelines and Requirements
DK Security’s fingerprinting services are available by appointment only. All customers must be at least 18 years old and provide a current LiveScan RI-030 (10/2020) form from the requesting agency with Section 1, Boxes 1–3 completed, or a CPL Application Receipt for CPL fingerprinting services. CPL applicants must also present a valid driver’s license. A current valid federal or state-issued photo ID is required for all fingerprinting appointments.
For customers whose requesting agency or employer is not covering the cost, Live Scan fingerprinting services are $65. We accept cash, checks, and all major credit and debit cards. Customers paying with cash should bring the exact amount, as change cannot be made. If you are unsure who is responsible for payment, please contact the requesting agency before scheduling your appointment.
Before booking, review the fingerprint reason code listed in Section 1, Box 1 of your form. DK Security is unable to provide fingerprinting services for the following reason codes: FCE, DSS, FFA, HC, GRD, PE, AWA, AWF, AWP, CCL, CLE, GCB, RID, SOR, AD, CSA, CSJ, PI, PHA, PR, PRC, NCJ, LIG, LSB, RC, and VI.

In-person Live Scan fingerprinting typically takes about 10-20 minutes to complete. Once the digital fingerprints are submitted to the State of Michigan and the FBI, results are usually returned to the requester by email within 24 to 48 hours.
DK Security offers Live Scan fingerprinting services at our Grand Rapids, Lansing, and Detroit corporate offices.
Each Live Scan costs $65. Cash, checks, and all major credit and debit cards are accepted. If paying with cash, please bring the exact amount, as DK Security cannot make change.
Live Scan fingerprinting is one part of the screening process and not a complete background check. It verifies identity and can return criminal history information, but it does not provide a full record of every offense or a comprehensive personal history.
