DK Security Co-Founder, Robert DuHadway, Passes Away
March 15, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce that Mr. Robert “Bob” DuHadway, Co-Founder and Chairman Emeritus at DK Security, passed away on the evening of March 31, 2019, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Bob co-founded DK Security in 1995 after a 25-year career with the FBI. He served as Chairman of the Board until his retirement in 2004. His leadership and law enforcement experience allowed for DK Security to become a leading provider in investigative services. After his retirement, Bob continued to be a valued member of the DK family. He provided counsel and leadership to our staff along with frequently attending employee recognition events. His reputation for having a strong work ethic, professionalism, and hospitality will continue to live on through the DK culture.
The following quotes are from members of the DK family who had the opportunity to work beside him.
“Western Michigan lost one of its true champions of law enforcement and security leadership. I had the honor to work beside him when he was with the FBI and later as a partner and Co-Founder of DK Security. No one brought greater dignity to the private security field than Special Agent Robert DuHadway. I will truly miss him, as will the entire DK family and his many friends and colleagues within the FBI family.”

“When I think of Bob, I smile. He was such a presence and a true gentleman. I don’t know that I’ve ever met anyone that could write a report like Bob. He was a great investigator, leader and by the rules kind of guy. It didn’t matter the time of day or night, he would always take your call and provide support. I stood in awe of the way he dealt with Parkinson’s. Courageous doesn’t begin to describe his battle. Thank you, Bob, for helping to start DuHadway, Kendall and Associates, Inc. I’m forever in your debt for allowing me to work for such a great company. God rest your soul dear friend.”

“Bob was such a caring and loving person. I will truly miss him. One of my fondest memories of Bob was when my mother passed away in 2000 after only being with DK for less than a year. Bob, (without me knowing) came to her funeral service in Muskegon. He came to me and stated, ‘if there was anything I can do, please let me know.’ That really meant the world to me and I will always be thankful and grateful for having such a GREAT BOSS and CARING FRIEND!”

Director of Human Resources
“Although I didn’t have the opportunity to work beside Bob before his retirement in 2004, I still frequently saw him either at the DK office or on the golf course. What I loved about Bob was that he was always encouraging me to make choices that would stretch me as a person. Despite his health conditions, he always made an effort to ask me how I was doing when I saw him. I was always excited when I had good news to share because I knew how much he cared about me.
He also genuinely cared for all of the employees at DK Security. This was evident as I would see him at many of our Outstanding Performer Luncheons. He didn’t have to attend, especially as the Parkinson’s got worse, but he still did. That was the kind of leader he was. I am blessed that I was able to have Bob as an influencer in my life.”
