This Security Technology Could Save Lives—And It’s Now Free for K–12 Schools

August 11, 2025

On July 28, 2025, a gunman carrying a visible M4-style rifle walked into a Midtown Manhattan office building and opened fire. Four lives were lost, including an off-duty NYPD officer. Security cameras captured the moment—but no alerts were triggered. No warnings were issued. There was no chance to intervene.

Shortly after the tragedy, our partner, RAD (Robotic Assistance Devices), processed the same video footage using their firearm detection technology. Their system identified the weapon before the suspect reached the front doors.

This wasn’t a hypothetical. It was a demonstration of how enhanced detection and response tools can drastically improve how we control access and protect people.

“Bailey’s Promise”: A Commitment to Safer Schools

In a significant initiative, RAD recently launched Bailey’s Promise, offering its firearm detection technology to every K–12 school in the United States at no cost. There are no licensing fees, subscriptions, or hidden charges.

This program honors the memory of a young student lost to school violence and is designed to provide all schools, regardless of size or budget, access to proactive threat detection systems.

More Than Surveillance—A Smarter Layer of Security

Whether you’re securing a school, office building, house of worship, hospital, or event venue, you need more than cameras. You need technology that sees the threat and acts.

With our partnership, DK Security brings RAD’s firearm detection systems directly to your location—deployed through devices like:

  • ROSA – Rapid-response unit for entrances and open areas
  • RIO – Solar-powered tower for outdoor and remote monitoring
  • ROSS – Compact device for controlled access points indoors or outdoors

Together, these tools give your team early warning, visual and audio deterrents, and the ability to alert law enforcement before a threat escalates.

Addressing the Security Needs of Vulnerable Environments

RAD’s detection technology is proving invaluable in environments at heightened risk, including:

  • K–12 schools, where rapid threat identification is critical

  • Corporate offices, vulnerable to workplace violence

  • Houses of worship, which often remain open to the public

  • Healthcare facilities with high visitor traffic

This technology transforms access control by enabling real-time detection and proactive response—now available to all K–12 schools nationwide at no cost.

Partner with DK Security for Proactive Protection

As an official RAD deployment partner, DK Security is ready to assist organizations in identifying and implementing the right firearm detection solutions for their unique needs—whether in education, corporate, faith-based, or healthcare settings.
