GRAND RAPIDS, MI –DK Security is looking to hire 60 temporary workers in the Detroit area to provide protection to facilities set up as field hospitals during the coronavirus crisis.

The Grand Rapids-based security and investigations company plans to hire 50 others to permanent jobs throughout Michigan. It has been hiring and providing security at medical facilities and other places across the state.

“Right now, we are playing a critical role at the epicenter of the coronavirus in Michigan,” said Johnny Kendall, director of DK marketing and business development.

The company is providing security at field hospitals in Oakland and Wayne counties, Kendall said. He said he could not identify the facilities.

The east side of the state has been hit hard by COVID-19.

Kendall said that DK Security has added many clients in the food, healthcare and pharmaceutical industries the last couple of months.

DK Security has hired 155 uniformed security officers since the first two coronavirus cases in Michigan were reported March 10.

The company also provides security for businesses that have been forced to close by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s stay-at-home order.

Those seeking entry-level jobs need to be at least 18, have a high-school diploma or equivalency and no felony convictions for entry-level jobs.

Kendall said workers are provided personal-protection equipment to guard against the coronavirus.

DK Security, which started in 1995, employs 2,400. It provides security and conducts a wide range of investigations.
