April 3rd, 1995, two highly respected leaders in federal law enforcement, Bob DuHadaway and John Kendall, came together with a shared vision — to offer top-tier investigative and consulting services to the business community. What started as a small operation quickly evolved into something much larger. Along the way, they uncovered a major gap in the security industry: a lack of professionalism, training, and reliability. They knew they could do better. And so, DK Security was born.

Fast forward 30 years, and DK Security has grown into one of the Midwest’s most trusted providers of security solutions. From uniformed security and executive protection to background checks and investigations, the mission has always been clear: to protect, serve, and lead with integrity.

“We’re 30 years old! What a blessing. It’s incredible to reflect on how far we’ve come. What started as a small investigations company, with just five Grand Valley State University criminal justice students has grown into a full-service security company with over 1,800 employees across Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio.

This growth wouldn’t have been possible without the vision of our founders, and the hard work of our dedicated team. We’re grateful for every employee who serves our incredible clients day in and day out. We are successful because of the great service you all provide. At DK, we believe in leading with values. Our G.I.F.T.S. program is a big part of that, and we encourage every team member to continue to modeling those principles in their daily work. It’s what makes our culture strong and our service exceptional.

Recently, I spoke with an employee who shared how grateful they are for the opportunities that DK Security has afforded them. Stories like theirs are a powerful reminder of one of DK Security’s core strengths: promoting from within and empowering people from all backgrounds to grow and succeed. That’s something I am incredibly proud of.

As we look forward, growing the business is always top of mind– especially the expansion of our robotics division. Our RAD (Robotics Assistance Devices) product line is helping to revolutionize the security industry. We’re excited to offer this innovative solution alongside our traditional services.
